The Quantum Energy Pad is a bedding solution developed by Richway.  We recommend this pad for anyone who plans to sleep on the BioMat.  It provides support using a 3D mesh, rather than with memory foam. This mesh reduces pressure points and distributes weight more evenly, for a much softer sleeping surface. It produces the comfort of memory foam, but it also allows air and infrared light to pass freely through the mesh.

The Quantum Pad is much better than the snugfleece wool cover that is sometimes paired with the BioMat. Snugfleece covers have a soft texture, but that’s it. There is no mechanism to redistribute weight or reduce pressure points. So as it turns out, they do not help very much for sleeping purposes.

The Quantum Pad is not usually necessary for daytime treatments on the BioMat, or for use in a professional setting. For these shorter treatments, the BioMat is already quite comfortable. But for longer term or overnight use, especially for side sleepers, it can be a very good accessory.

The Quantum cover is nearly 2 inches thick, so it can reduce the infrared transmission to some extent. But for overnight treatments this is fine, and it’s always possible to compensate by turning the temperature up a little bit more.

The outer portion of the Quantum pad can be removed and machine washed.
